Perhaps One Of The Best Values in A Tapered B String

I wish I'd the awareness and understanding of the value and importance of tapered bass strings when I first began exploring the six string bass, almost 30 years ago.

If you value the best intonation possible for your instrument of choice you may need to look closely at what you're for your Low B, E, and A strings. Also the type of saddle used in your bridge assembly must be considered.

I have specifically tried this D'Addario .120" Nickel Plated Steel Round Wound String using a tapered ball end. First employed on one of my Hohner B-BassVI basses, it has worked exceedingly well with an appropriately gauged set of strings to compliment it. The instrument is using a Mighty Mite branded aftermarket bridge and can be easily swapped out

This is the lightest gauge bass string D'Addario makes with a tapered ball-end that I know of. Heavier tapered ball-end gauges do exist but this is their lightest guage suitable for a low B. The length of the taper is right about 2" between the ball-end and the full diameter of the outer most wrap of wire.

Nickel plated steel is less harsh sounding than Stainless Steel IMHO, certaily expressive enough in tonality as a round wound should be and, seems to blend in nicely with various brands of nickel plated steel strings from other manufacturers

This D'Addario is complimenting five other strings that are all SIT branded nickel round wounds for a nicely balanced tension set and will give this a try on one of my other Vantage branded six string basses. The quality control on these strings seems to be amongs the best in the business, I am very pleased with this particular string within my bass string arsenal.
