The B125 active blend control (ABC) eliminates insertion loss and is designed to work with either passive or active pickups. (excluding EMG X Series models)
Insertion loss is a naturally occurring, yet frustrating, phenomenon that occurs with traditional balance pots. It is characterized by a drop in signal strength when two competing signals are mixed; The nearer you move the balance knob to the middle position the more directly it affects the signal of the other pickup.
EMG has designed the Active Balance Control (ABC) to eliminate this phenomenon and gives a player more direct control and a more reliable expectation of what their tone will sound like at any given time.
Note: The output impedance of the ABC is low, so high resistance volume and tone controls will not work correctly when placed after the ABC. A low impedance volume control (included) and active tone control (purchase separately if tone control is desired) are required. See any of the EMG Accessories like the VLPF, EXB, BTC or BTS Controls, etc.
